About Embassy Education

Background

The present document seeks to outline a proposed program by Embassy Education to establish a research and knowledge centre for the development and dissemination of scarce graduate skills in the Republic of South Africa. The higher education sector that has seen graduates failing to complete their Masters and PHD studies or completing their studies at undergraduate level, outside record time. In response to this crisis, Embassy Education proposes enhanced interventions that will provide citizens, graduate students, schools, teachers and learners with strategic support and a supply of refined skills and expertise from respective institutions of higher learning. Through partnership with the National Library of South Africa, government, public libraries, academic libraries, as well as institutions of higher learning and other entities, we aim to roll out a graduate capacitation project that will dispense the finest and internationally tested graduate research and academic skills. It is the intention of Embassy Education as a knowledge centre in the Republic of South Africa to establish provincial centres that will be available to students in institutions of higher learning in every province.

Embassy Ed. has assembled a pool of skilled and experienced academics and intellectuals in all the academic disciplines who are ready to develop training manuals and dispense skills and expertise to graduate students throughout the Republic of South Africa. Compliance with international standards, best practices and the needs of the South African industry and economy are some of the aims that Embassy Ed. places value in as the graduate capacitation project is being conceptualised and designed for national implementation. It is the aim and objective of Embassy Ed. to complement the efforts of NLSA and institutions of higher learning in South Africa by providing tried and tested research experts that will equip graduate students with research competence skills and academic writing capabilities of internationally competitive standards.

Embassy Ed. is a research and knowledge organisation that was incorporated in the Republic of South Africa in 2016. The formation and incorporation of Embassy Education followed an observation by experienced South African academics that many students in our tertiary institutions cannot read and write. Also most South Africans do not only lack computer skills, but lack a reading culture that impacts on information retrieval skills. The need for the adaptation of international best practices, affiliation with organisations with similar objectives throughout the world, and the responsiveness to the needs of the South African economy and polity are but some of the guiding values of Embassy Ed. as a knowledge centre.

The assembling of international and national research experts in the hard sciences, social sciences and the humanities has been one of the projects of the Embassy Education. The aim is to elevate South African basic and higher education standards and the quality and calibre of graduates to an internationally competitive level. Most of the Embassy Education team members have been involved in the education and training of library and information professionals since 1995. Embassy Education offers a wider variety of training than any other organisations in South Africa ranging from different aspects and fields of Library and Information Science, reading, organisational communication, research aspects to writing for publication and more. Highly qualified academics, who are specialists in these different aspects and fields, enable the organisation to equip citizens with the best combination of knowledge and skills to work and survive in the continuously evolving information society.
